artist statement "On the
surface, my work has been described as lyrical and whimsical. However, I strive
to bring the viewer more deeply into the creative process. My recent work explores
the restorative effects of travel on the mind and soul. Travel can
be powerful in its ability to pause the mind, and life itself, allowing
for refreshment, renewal and change. My goal is to capture
the essence of a place which allows this restoration to occur and to
transport my audience, both visually and emotionally.
With the use of multiple planes and three-dimensional
elements, the result breaks free of convention and tradition. The exuberance of
bold color and form spill off the canvas, while unlocking the possibility of
fantasy and magic. I hope to delight and bring joy to the
viewer through this process."
